2011 #OccupyRacism

In the fall of 2011, AWARE-LA helped to convene a national network of white racial justice #Occupy organizers in solidarity with organizers of color and #OccupyWallStreet. Called #OccupyRacism, the network met online, on conference calls, and in person (when possible) to share lessons and strategies for multiracial movement-building in the #Occupy movement and beyond. The communications consisted of: group check-ins, support and ideas for one another’s work, Q&As about individual and collective strategies and approaches, and syncing racial justice work nationally when and where possible. More information: http://facebook.com/occupyracism
